The world makes us and then we (re)make the world.
We are born into it.. The cacophony of sights, sounds, smells and feelings that the world is made from. We all have no reference for it at first. But slowly we learn. We try one thing after another until something works. We learn to operate our bodies to move through this physical existence to the best of our capacity. When we tire of each day we rest. We notice the passage of time and realize there is a present past and future.
We then begin to dream, to help review what we know and imagine what we will next discover.
We notice how some sounds and images are actually communication from others. We satisfy our curiosity, learn the syntax and protocols to understand it. Through that we then start learning even more through others experiences. We don’t entirely trust it all for face value so we imitate and copy. To truly see if these failures of others really are certain and if that success they tasted was repeatable. We find much joy and sorrow along this journey.
Innocence only lasts for so long.. Slowly we start to learn of injustice, greed and hate. Initially this is just through stories of what to look out for but this can also come from those we thought we could trust the most. Rejection, and exploitation are some of the hardest lessons we learn. We try to figure out how to cope. Hopefully along the way we also learned of Love, acceptance, and encouragement as all those help combat the negative.
We then begin to dream. Of how to avoid what brings us sadness and find a purpose and place of happiness in the world.
The world never stops, others making and remaking it, either harder or easier for our own journey. We continue to be told how it is. We are shown our place and find our limits. We hopefully find friends and allies along the way but also so much indifference and even those out to get us. We age, we struggle, and we suffer at times but hopefully still find solace and joy still along the way. However like a stone in the elements we are slowly weathered down bit by bit, beaten down, disillusioned. Many of us end up being told and shown our palace by others who had an easier path and grabbed power first.
We then forget to dream.
We are told to just accept the truths and reality given to us that the world belongs to them and we have no power to change it so we best just accept it. To just exist only to serve the dreams of others and subsist on only glimpses of their much more wonderful lives or fantasies of different realities. And that’s just the way things are.
But is it?
The world made us, but we forget then after that we all collectively have the choice and power to remake the world. As long as we all dream collectively for something better. And believe in those who have a dream that includes all of us
