It's the sad details that make a world really feel authentic.
While exploring Second life today I came across this scene in a place called Cravone City. Overall it's not a happy scene, it recalls the struggle and grittiness of actual city life, the not so nice details in the corner.
So why would someone make this?
Well because they could, it adds realism, and while the actual challenge of homelessness is not something to make light of, it's profound that it was included here.
Now, I like to still say Second life is one of the best virtual worlds out there. And likely I have some bias after over 17 years exploring it. However, I think this is another example of how SL remains a great experience. Where else in multiple virtual worlds would you find a scene like this? And does this almost unnoticed sad detail in the corner make the world feel all the more real?
I think it does.
