Which clearly shows their bias in this..
Really this is not a "Rant" California has been suffering allot from environmental lobbies with good intentions being able to mandate things, but they have not been looking at the larger picture. Sure it would be great to git rid of allot of fossil fuel burning but YES we don't have the POWERGRID for it. We are neglecting that severely, and private energy companies like PG&E having a stranglehold on the conversation with their lobbying. WE need a robust decentralized power grid.. There are ways to do that look at what the the actual Municipal utilities like SMUD and Roseville electric are doing as their focus is customers not shareholders.
As for vehicles, we don't need all electric right now we need plug in HYBRID. Wouldn't it be great if your pickup truck or SUV used less fuel when unloaded, had better torque, could plug into your house to replace your emergency generator, AND still had no range anxiety as you could just go to the fuel station and fill it up when needed? We have the technology to do that NOW but lawmakers have indeed been denying us the choice as they repeatedly have given incentives only to pure electric vehicles and mandated we go to all electric vehicles despite the infrastructure not being able to support it yet. We can have a better more fuel efficient, brighter and more robust future without extreme sacrifice. We have the TECHNOLOGY to do it. but No we can't have that because we have so many politicians that refuse to see the bigger picture and happily do what the lobbyists tell them is just fine.
So it's good that Doug LaMalfa said this "Rant". He may not be entirely correct on all the details but is still bringing attention to significant problems that continue to be overlooked by other lawmakers.
